Northern Territory - First Half
Kayaking in Lake Argyle. Getting the kayak down the
mountain was more of a challenge than originally anticipated.
Made it!
One last sunset in WA.
Big drive today, Lake Argyle to Katherine.
First sunset in the NT.
Cheeky little visitor.
Enjoyed a morning swim at Edith Falls.
Next day we arrived in Kakadu – first stop
Maguk.
Next stop Jim Jim Falls!
Freezing swim at Jim Jim but one of our faves.
Spotting salties feed at Cahill’s crossing. Good
spot to watch the locals fish off the rocks (brave or stupid?).
Made some afternoon friends at Ubir.
Used our new friends as a photographer.
We’ve seen millions of termite mounds now. This was up there with one of the biggest we've seen.
First glimpse of Darwin.
3 days here in a hotel to unwind and enjoy some air
conditioning. It’s been a hot few weeks (35 degrees plus).
4 year anniversary, and no one threw the other
in. Also 1 month on the road, woop woop!
Meet Kevin ^^. He weighed around 800kg and was about 4.5m long. Did you know a salty can have a bite force up to 33,800N, compared to a human which is only 380N.
Heading South now – Berry Springs, not often you get
to complain about the water being too warm!
Wangi Falls, spent the night camped here.
Buley Rock Hole.
Florence Falls.
Perks of camping during Covid.
Enjoying the view at Katherine Gorge.
However no swimming allowed due to the crocs - a bit disappointing after a 10km hike.
Mataranka Thermal Pools, and spoilt with a whip show at the
campground that night.
Mataranka Bitter Springs – our favourite so far!
Lunch stop at the Daly Water Pub – making our
way South to Alice Springs.
The daily stop for fire wood. Hard work in this
heat.
Looking for a camp.
Just another starry night.
Devils Marbles ft Jascha.
Devils Marbles ft Roxc.
Random dinner photo. Whipping up some Gnocchi that night.
Made it to Alice, now on the way out to the East Macdonnel Ranges…
…with our new friends.
First camp with Jack and Rachael, little did we
know this was the first of many with them :).
Morning hikes.
Ruby Gap –very cold swimming hole and a beautiful
camp site.
Cooking on the coals again – attempting our
first pizza damper.
It's a win!
Campsite by night.
Next morning, ready to head back to Alice.
After a quick pit stop in Alice, we headed South for the night. Roxc driving corrugations for the first time!
Evening walk around Rainbow Valley.
Back in Alice, up on ANZAC hill.
Installing new shockies since the Gibb wrecked
the old ones. Thanks to the old bloke next door with a rattle gun!
Ending our time in Alice with Partjima, the
light festival. Glad we hung around a week for this.
